  Description

  Depicted as a large circular enclosure (diam. c. 0m) on OS 1836 ed. Not marked on subsequent eds. Situated on the S slope of a low hill. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). • Kiffagh House, house, 1830–1870 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c.1850, with single-storey lean-to to rear. Now disused. Hipped slate roof with lead rolls to ridges, pair of rendered brick chimneystacks with plinth and coping bands flanking centre bay, continuous corbel stone at eaves, sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast render on rubble stone walls with smooth render plinth. Six-over-six and six-over-three timber sash windows, with stone sills. Round-headed entrance with raised render surround, spoked fanlight, and replacement glazed timber door. Wrought-iron pedestrian gate on axis with entrance, flanked by square-profile rendered piers with stone caps set in rubble stone boundary walls.

  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey school, built c.1830, with recessed full-height entrance bays to east and west gables, and recent lean-to addition to north-east. Now disused. Hipped slate roof with clay ridge tiles, hip ends carried down over entrance bays, rendered chimneystack one bay from east end and rendered stack to rear elevation, replacement metal rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered quoins, plinth, and surrounds to window and door openings. Metal lattice windows set in timber frames with stone sills. Sheeted timber door with lattice overlight.
