Description
Situated on a small promontory jutting into Lough Ramor and cut off from the mainland by a substantial external bank and wide, deep fosse curving from NE-E-SE. The motte is situated in the SE of the enclosed area. It comprises a high, steep-sided, and flat-topped circular earthen mound (diam. of base c. 28m; H 4-5m). The summit of the mound is also circular (diam. c. 12m N-S). A shallow fosse to the NE of the motte separates it from the bailey which itself comprises two courts separated by a low stone wall. The outer court adjoins a rectangular depression which may have been a slipway for boats. No trace of any buildings within bailey. Description
Freestanding single-cell Church of Ireland church, built 1831, with three-bay nave, crenellated entrance porch to west gable, chancel to east with vestry to north. Pitched slate roof with clay ridge tiles, stone barges and cast-iron rainwater goods. Corbelled ashlar bellcote with chamfered corners and pinnacle to west end. Octagonal-profile corner pinnacles to west gable and to crenellated porch parapet. Coursed random rubble sandstone walls with ashlar cornerstones to east end and chancel, chamfered ashlar plinth and chamfered ashlar surrounds to window and door openings. Punched limestone ashlar corner buttress to west end and porch, comprising chamfered plinth, high square-profile pedestal with weathered cornice, chamfered shaft to upper level with curved stop detail surmounted by pinnacles. Pointed arch windows to nave with chamfered ashlar surrounds and twin pointed timber lattice lights surmounted by foiled roundels. Sharply pointed lancet opening to west gable with timber lattice window. Four-centred pointed arch chancel window with tripartite leaded lattice stained glass window comprising switch-lights and floral motifs. Four-centred arch to main entrance to west of porch with double-leaf timber sheeted door having decorative hinges. Side door to south of porch having four-centred arch with double-leaf timber panelled door and fixed overpanels. Nave interior ceiling of timber on cast-iron trusses with looped web. Four-centred arched recess to east and west ends, moulding at base of arch forms continuous impost and hood moulding to windows along sides of nave. Perforations at high level to both ends, label mouldings to chancel arch and window. Timber wainscot to chancel having timber communion table, altar rails and pulpit. Box pews on raised floor with hexagon-shaped recess at centre of nave aisle. Coloured floor tiles and steps to chancel area. Graveyard to south. Entrance comprising square-profile ashlar piers and cast-iron gates set back from road in coursed rubble-stone walls with Scotch coping.

Description
Freestanding single-cell gable-fronted Catholic church, built 1847, with five-bay nave elevations. Renovated and reroofed with oversailing eaves and barge in 1959. Pitched slate roof with metal cross finial to south end and pedestal to north, cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls, punched stone quoins, smooth rendered eaves and plinth. Lancet openings to nave with dressed stone surrounds and sills, stained glass windows. Tripartite lancet windows to upper level of north and south gables with dressed stone mullions and surround and replacement stained glass with storm-glazing. Pair of square-headed windows in chamfered ashlar surrounds flanking sacristy entrance to north with recent stained glass, shield-shaped stone plaque to over entrance, now illegible. Church entrance to south and sacristy entrance to north comprising engaged crenellated parapet with cornice and panelled frieze on panelled pilasters framing recessed four-centred arched opening with panelled spandrel, all in limestone ashlar. Side entrance below central nave window to rear. Recent timber entrance doors, plain overlight to north, stained glass overlight to south. Interior extensively renovated with compartmented ceiling and rosettes, replacement canopied reredos flanked by replacement doors and altar table. Gallery to south end with glazed areas of c.1990 below. Encaustic and geometric clay floor tiling to entrance area and aisle, timber below recent timber pews and to altar area. Rendered boundary walls having gabled square-profile piers and cast-iron gates. Bell and belfry to south-west on rock-faced ashlar piers, Marian grotto of cut stone to south-east.
