  Marked on all OS eds. Large oval area (int.dims. c. 80m NNW-SSE; c. 50m ENE-WSW)enclosed by a much-denuded low earthen bank. The site is divided into two unequal portions by a field boundary running NNW-SSW. The larger portion,ENE of the boundary, has been levelled. Original entrance not recognisable.   A modern dwelling and garden now occupy most of this site. All that survives of the rath are traces of a fosse and former substantial earthen bank running from NE-E.   Description

  Situated within a tree plantation. Motte is a high, very steep-sided, circular mound (diam. at base c. 28m; H c. 3.5m) with a flat-topped summit (diam. c. 22m N-S). It is enclosed by a fosse which is wide and deep from NW-N-ENE and identifiable only as slight traces from ENE-E-ESE. Site is skirted by a modern laneway from SSE-S-W. An earlier report (SMR file, 1970) described a segment of mortared masonry built against the counterscarp at NW which may have formed part of a bridge connecting the site with 'Holywell House' c. 25m to ENE.   Description

• St Paul's Church of Ireland Church, church/chapel, 1790–1810 · Regional interest
  Description

  Freestanding T-plan Gothic Revival Church of Ireland church, built c.1800, with three-bay nave, shallow chancel projection to east, two-stage tower and north transept added c.1837, vestry to north-west and lean-to to north. Pitched slate roof with terracotta ridge tiles to nave and transept, hipped roof to vestry. Castellated ashlar limestone parapet to tower, over projecting cornice course with corner pinnacles having moulded finials and square bases with gablets to each face. Barge copings to gables with plain dressed limestone kneelers. Cast-iron and aluminium rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls to nave and tower, ruled-and-lined to transept, limestone plaque to tower. Pointed-belfry opening to upper stage of tower with timber louvres in stone surround, small high level lancet opening with timber louvres to west gable. Pointed arch window openings to gable transept and three-bay nave with leaded stained-glass windows. Square-headed window to vestry with chamfered limestone surround having six-over-six timber sash window with convex horns. All windows having tooled limestone sills. Pointed arched entrance with limestone surround and modern overlight of pointed panes over stone transom forming head of replacement timber sheeted double doors with historic ironmongery. Historic pews arranged with central aisles to transept and nave. Gallery to west of nave supported on bundled cast-iron columns with guardrail of Doric balusters. Original floorboards, stone monuments and carved timber pulpit. Set within graveyard and enclosed by coursed random rubble wall.

  Description

  Detached three-bay two-storey school, built 1878, with pronounced hipped roof and central single-storey porch, single-storey wing to south-west. Now disused. Double-span hipped slate roof with internal valley, lead-roll ridges and wide oversailing eaves having timber soffits and moulded brackets. Similar hipped roof with wide oversailing eaves to porch. Pitched slate roof with one hip-end to wing. Rendered chimneystacks with decorative terracotta pots flanking central bay, cast-iron and uPVC rainwater goods. Roughcast render over random rubble and red brick walls. Original six-over-six timber sliding-sash windows to ground floor, three-over-three to first with convex horns, all with tooled limestone sills. Nine-pane fixed timber windows to porch. Square-headed door opening to east side of porch with timber boarded door and decorative door knocker. Timber-battened doors to wing. Set adjacent to St. Paul’s Church and bounded by wrought-iron railings and gate.
