  Description

  Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 36m) enclosed by a partly denuded, irregular earthen bank and the remains of a fosse infilled from NW-N-NE. Original entrance not recognisable. Internal area now forms part of a modern farmyard. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).   Description

  Detached four-bay single-storey lobby-entry vernacular house, built c.1800, having shallow windbreak porch, single-storey lean-to corrugated-iron extension to rear. Pitched slate roof, paired red brick chimneystacks, sections of cast-iron rainwater goods. Lime-washed rubble stone walls having square-headed openings and painted sills. Two-over-two timber sash windows with some replacement windows, windows in eastern bay not aligned. Sheeted timber door having large flags to threshold. Outbuildings having corrugated metal roofs, lime-washed rubble stone walls, and sheeted timber doors, ranged perpendicular to west side of the house. Pre-historic ringfort adjacent to rear.

• Laurel Mount, house, 1870–1890 · Regional interest
  Description

  Detached L-plan three-bay two-storey house, built c.1880. Hipped slate roof having moulded brick eaves course, paired red brick chimneystacks and rebuilt chimney stack to rear gable, replacement rainwater goods. Rubble stone walls having red-brick quoins and block-and start surrounds to openings. One-over-one timber sash windows with cut-stone sills. Replacement timber panelled door with plain glazed overlight. Partly rendered rear elevation. Lean-to outbuildings having corrugated metal roofs, roughcast rendered walls, and sheeted timber doors, to rear. Set back from the road having formal bifurcating drive, gate piers removed. Wrought-iron gates providing access to rubble stone and corrugated metal farm outbuildings to rear.
