  Description

• CL025-006 Enclosure
  Description

  Towards the top of the E-facing slope of Carnaun Hill. Hachured as a ringfort on the 1840 OS 6-inch map and indicated as a trapezoidal area defined by field walls on the 1920 Cassini edition. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1999 there were no visible traces at ground level and much of the area had been reclaimed.   Description

  At the bottom of a S-facing slope in pasture. Hachured on the Cassini 1920 OS 6-inch map and on the 25-inch map as a rath (diam. c. 30m) with an external fosse hachured along the W. A NW-SE field boundary crossing the NE quadrant is also indicated. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1999 there were no visible remains at ground level. • CL025-009 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a slight rise in pasture in undulating countryside. Hachured as a ringfort on the 1840 and 1920 OS 6-inch maps. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A subcircular area (c. 31m N-S; 29m E-W) defined NE-SSE by a wall with some interior facing stones and with a drystone wall (Wth 0.7m; H 0.6-1m) built on top. Elsewhere a faint scarp defines the perimeter. The townland boundary between Carnaun and Liscullaun curves to respect the site along the E side. The interior slopes slightly to the SE.
