  Description

  On a hillock surrounded by conifer forest. Named ‘Tonwaun Fort’ on the first edition (1842) of the OS 6-inch map and shown as a large oval enclosure (est. max diams. c. 50m N-S; c. 45m E-W) which contains a smaller, oval enclosure (est. max. diams. c. 14m E-W; c. 10m N-S) just S of centre. Named 'Tonwaun Fort (Site of)' on the Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. All that survives is a small triangular area (15m ENE-WSW; 15m NNW-SSE) defined by loose stones from field-clearance. In the centre of the triangle is a T-shaped arrangement of drystone field-walls (8m NE-SW; 8m NW-SE; H 0.5m), with another short wall (L 1m) extending NW from near the W end.
