  Proposes to carry out the following development. The development consists of a flood defence protecting three properties in Quin Co Clare. The defence consists of two sections of earthen embankment and a reinforced concrete wall. The reinforced concrete wall section is approximately 120m long, with a maximum height of 2.2m. To the south a 2m high embankment extends approximately 80m to higher ground. To the north a less than 1m high embankment extends approximately 20m to highter ground. In accordance with the Habitats Directive, Appropriate Assessment Screening has been carried out on the project and has determinined that a full Appropriate Assessment is not required in respect of the project. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) screening determination has been made and concludes that there is no real likelihood of signigicant effects on the environment arising from the proposed development.

• CL034-249 Enclosure
  Description

  On a gentle SE-facing slope, in a small field of rocky pasture with excellent views of the surrounding landscape ENE-SW and overlooked by higher ground SW-ENE. Located within a field system (CL034-250----). It consists of a circular area (22m NW-SE; 21m NE-SW) defined by the sod-covered remains of a collapsed stone wall (int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.15m; Wth at top 2.75m; overall Wth 5.25m). There is a possible entrance gap (Wth 1.7m) at SE. The interior slopes down gently to SE and the surface is uneven due to rock outcrop close to the surface. A collapsed field wall extends from the enclosure at NNE where it abuts a possible rectangular enclosure (22m NE-SW; 16m NW-SE) in the N corner of the field. This is defined to SE and SW by a similar wall to the circular enclosure. This is no longer traceable to NW where it is truncated by a field boundary (long-axis NE-SW) and is levelled yet traceable to NE, where it is truncated by a second field boundary (long-axis NW-SE). • CL034-250 Field system
  Description

  Stretching across two small fields (SW and NE) of rocky pasture, on a gentle SE-facing slope with excellent views of the surrounding landscape ENE-SW and overlooked by higher ground SW-ENE. Associated with a circular enclosure (CL034-249----) in the SW field. Identified on satellite imagery (Digital Globe 2015). Partially depicted on the 1842 edition of the OS 6-inch map. A short, collapsed, sod-covered field wall (L 6m) abutting the circular enclosure at NNE conjoins it with a possible rectangular enclosure in the N corner of the field. The remains of an L-shaped sod-covered field wall are located to the immediate E of the circular enclosure. This is truncated to NE by a relatively modern field boundary (long-axis NW-SE) which divides the two fields. A collapsed sod-covered field wall (int. H 0.3m; ext. H 0.4m; Wth at top 1.5m; overall Wth 3.4m) extends (long-axis NE-SW) from the SW side of the L-shaped field wall. The rest of this field across whole SW area is occupied by natural linear rock outcropping (long-axis WNW-ESE). The field to NE has a lot of rock outcrop forming no discernible pattern. A well-formed sod-covered field boundary (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.45m; Wth at top 0.9m; overall Wth 2.25m) extends across the SE side of this field.
