The proposed development will consist of an amendment to a previously consented development (Planning Reference 25/260 by Clare County Council) comprising of; (i) the relocation of the permitted IPP substation, (ii) revised 110 kV grid connection infrastructure including the provision of two 110 kV lattice towers, underground cable ducting and associated infrastructure, (iii) amendments to the electrical interface connection arrangement, (iv) the provision of palisade fencing and associated ancillary infrastructure, (v) a minor extension to the permitted development boundary to the west of the site to facilitate the proposed 110 kV lattice tower and associated underground cable infrastructure, and (vi) all associated ancillary works required to facilitate connection to Drumline 110 kV Substation, Co. Clare. This development is covered by the provisions of the Renewable Energy Directive III (Directive (EU) 2023/2413) and it is important to note that the planning application may be subject to section 34D of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended. When a notice issues in accordance with section 34D(b), the provisions of article 26A of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 to 2025 shall apply. The planning application may be inspected or purchased at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, at the offices of the planning authority during its public opening hours. The project will incorporate 256 inverters arranged in a series string configuration, supported by 24 electrical skid hardstands that will house transformer units and a ring main unit facility. The development also entails the construction of a transformer compound to facilitate a connection to the existing 110kV Drumline Substation. An internal network cable will be installed to enable an under-the-fence connection from the on-site transformer compound to the adjacent substation. The transformer compound will include an Independent Power Producer (IPP) building, a 110kV transformer, and an 18 metre-high lightning monopole mast. Approximately 8.6 Kilometres of new and upgraded internal access tracks will be developed to provide connectivity within the site. Six new site entrances are proposed, including modification to existing junctions to accommodate construction access and the delivery of abnormal loads. These access points will connnect to Local Roads (L3166, Ballycar Road L3174 and L3136) and the Regional Road R458. All new entrances will link directly to the public road network. This application seeks approval for all associated site development and ancillary works necessary to support the successful delivery and operation of the proposed solar farm. A Natura Impact Statement will also be submitted to the Planning Authority with this application
