  Description

  In gently undulating pasture with clear views to N. Indicated on the first (1842) and Cassini (1920) editions of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This large subcircular cashel (int. diam. 62m NNE-SSW) is defined by a substantial, but largely rebuilt, double-faced stone wall (Wth 1.2-1.7m) which survives highest (int. H 1-1.4m; ext. H 1.4-2m) SE-W-NW, but is much reduced NW-NE where it is almost level with the interior and only the base of the outer wall-face is visible, overlaid by a later drystone wall. • CL017-033 Enclosure
  Description

  In level pasture. Indicated on the OS 25-inch plan (1897) and the Cassini edition (1920) of the OS 6-inch map. This small, poorly preserved, slightly sunken subcircular enclosure (int. dims. 15.1m NW-SE; ext. dims. 22.6m NW-SE) is defined by a low earth and stone bank (Wth 2m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.1m) which is best preserved at SE and SW. From SW-N-SE, a drystone wall (Wth c. 0.8m; max. H 1.4m) runs along the top of the bank. The S edge of the enclosure is cut by a later ENE-WSW running road. There is another enclosure (CL017-034----) c. 60m to the E. • CL017-034 Enclosure
  Description

  In pasture on the crest of a S-facing slope. Hachured on both the first (1842) and Cassini (1920) editions of the OS 6-inch map. This poorly preserved D-shaped enclosure (int. diam. 20m E-W) with a straight E side (L 15.8m N-S) is defined along the E by a drystone wall, from S-W by a very slight bank (Wth 4-5m; H 0.4-0.8m) and from W-N by an even less substantial bank (Wth 1-1.3m; max. H 0.3m) of stone and earth. The bank from S-W is gapped and has a lot of large field stones (min. L 1m) added to it and may be modern and the result of spoil being deposited on this edge of the enclosure. At SW, there is also a large pile of stones inside the enclosing bank. • CL017-035 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  On the SW-facing slope of a knoll in undulating mixed karst and pasture. Hachured on both the first (1842) and Cassini (1920) editions of the OS 6-inch map. Listed as ‘Enclosure’ in the RMP (1996). This poorly preserved cashel (int. diam. 24m NW-SE) is defined from NE-E-S by a double-faced stone wall (Wth 1.8m; int. H 0.4m; ext. H c. 0.8m) and moss-covered collapsed walling (combined Wth 4m). Inner and outer facing-stones are visible intermittently. Elsewhere, the wall has been removed, its line overlain by a later drystone wall from S-W-NW and by a single course of drystone wall from NW-N-NE. Near the cashel’s centre is a subcircular area of sunken stone collapse (diam. 3m; D 0.5m) with rubble accumulated around its S edge. This may be a natural depression or cave, or possibly a souterrain. There is an enclosure (CL017-238----) c. 65m to the SW. Compiled by: Gearóid Conroy and Conn Herriott Date of upload: 20 July 2023

  Description

  Listed as 'Fulachta Fiadha' in the RMP (1996). At the S end of a turlough. A low grass-covered area (c. 13m N-S; c. 8m E-W; max. H 0.3m) of burnt and broken stone with two grassed-over quarry-holes (diam. 2.5m; D 0.2m) at the E edge and a larger one at NW (diam. c. 4m x 3m). Another fulacht fia (CL017-186002-) lies c. 12m to the NW. Three fulachtaí fia were recorded c. 150m N of here (pers. comm. T. Coffey, SMR file). It would appear that that locational information was incorrect due to a transfer from small to large scale mapping. There is a gravel bank (L c. 9m; Wth c. 3m) c. 30m N of CL017-186002- which may have been misinterpreted as a third fulacht fia. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 6 October 2014

  Description

  Listed as ‘Fulachta Fiadha’ in the RMP (1996). At the S end of a turlough. An oval mound of burnt and broken stone (8m ESE-WSW; 5m WNW-ENE; max. H 0.7m at E). An upright stone with a rounded crest, aligned E-W, stands at the N edge of the mound (H 0.5m; 0.85m x 0.3m). Another fulacht fia (CL017-186001-) lies c. 12m to the SE. Three fulachtaí fia were recorded c. 150m N of here (pers. comm. T. Coffey, SMR file). It would appear that that locational information was incorrect due to a transfer from small to large scale mapping.
