  Description

  In rough hill pasture, on a W-facing slope overlooking Fastnet Rock and Mizen Head. This standing stone (1.22m x 0.4m; H 0.9m) is roughly rectangular in plan and section and is orientated NE-SW. Packing-stones are visible, especially on the NW side. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009).   End-of-terrace three-bay two-storey public house, built c.1890. Recent extensions to the rear (north-west) and side (north-east). Pitched artificial slate roof with rendered chimneystacks with uPVC rainwater goods. Painted rendered walls with cast-iron lanterns and wrought-iron plant hangers. Square-headed openings with timber casement and two-over-two timber sliding sash windows with rendered surrounds and stone and concrete sills. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled door and overlight. Shopfront comprising timber pilasters with consoles supporting a timber architrave, fascia, and cornice with corbels. Square-headed opening having clear and stained glass display windows with concrete sill. Square-headed door openings with timber panelled doors and overlights.

Square-headed tripartite opening with one-over-one timber sliding sash windows and concrete sills. Square-headed door opening with timber glazed door and overlight.

  Corner-sited attached five-bay two-storey bank and manager's house, built 1932-3. Hipped slate roof with ashlar limestone chimneystacks, overhanging eaves, eaves course and cast-iron rainwater goods. Randomly coursed ashlar limestone walls with ashlar plinth, sill course and block-and-start quoins. Square-headed openings to first floor with six-over-six timber sliding sash windows and dressed stone sills. Round-headed openings to ground floor with seven-over-five timber sliding sash windows and dressed stone sills. Rounded-headed door opening with double-leaf timber panelled doors, spoked fanlight, carved stone pilasters with volute and acanthus decoration, consoles supporting moulded archivolt and approached by flight of steps.
