Description
In tillage, on slight rise in ground. Discovered during construction of Bruff-Mallow gas pipeline (Gowen 1988, 179). Narrow bank of burnt material (Wth 3.5m), exposed during removal of topsoil, crossed pipeline corridor. No associated mound detected outside corridor (pers. comm. M. Gowen). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). Description
Single-arch limestone road bridge over railway, built c. 1850. Coursed and snecked peck-dressed walls having peck-dressed copings terminating in square plan piers. Tooled limestone string courses to each elevation, above elliptical arch, latter set into rock-faced stonework with cut-stone impost courses to each side over rock-faced pier bases. Slight batter to abutment walls.
