Description
In level pasture. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 55m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured circular raised area (diam. c. 50m) on 1904 OS 6-inch map; as hachured circular area enclosed by fosse on 1935 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; site clearly visible as slightly raised roughly circular area (57m N-S; 52.8m E-W) with low bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.75m) NNW->ENE. External fosse survives to NE and E as deep waterlogged depression, as shallow depression to W and NW and as vegetation pattern to S. Interior level; farm trackway crosses E quadrant. In pasture. Raised circular area (39.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.2m); external fosse (D 1m) survives undisturbed NNW->NE; recut for use as watercourse NW->NNW and material from digging dumped on bank. Break in bank to NW (Wth 3.2m); causewayed entrance (Wth c. 2m) to SSW, blocked by fallen trees. Interior raised above level of surrounding field and heavily overgrown. Description
In level pasture, on the N bank of a stream. An oval grass-covered mound (16m E-W; 14m N-S; H 0.7m) of heat-shattered stones and charcoal-enriched soil. According to local information, a shallow depression on the S side of the mound is the remains of a small pond which was drained. Numerous natural rises were also noted in the field. Description
Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1900, having canted-bay windows to ground floor outer bays and having slightly lower return and lean-to extension to rear. Pitched artificial slate roof with red brick chimneys and cast-iron rainwater goods. Continuous slate roof between canted-bay windows, sheltering porch area, having timber battened soffit. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls with render eaves course. Square-headed openings with painted render surrounds to first floor, rendered sills to canted bays, all having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows. Tripartite window opening to rear extension having painted stone sill and triple timber sliding sash window. Segmental-headed door opening having cut limestone step and timber panelled door with timber sidelights and overlight. Rendered gate piers and boundary walls to entrance.
