Description
In pasture on N-facing slope. Hachured as subrectangular area on 1842 OS 6-inch map; W side not shown on 1902 and 1934 maps. Subrectangular area (50m N-S; c. 40m E-W) defined to E by stone-faced earthen field fence (H 1m); elsewhere by low rise with shallow external depression (Wth 12m). Interior level. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). Description
Noted by Westropp (1921, 109) as a 'fenced platform, 3ft. higher than the field and about 40ft. to 50ft. either way'. Sub-rectangular area (11m N-S; 8.5m E-W) to W of stream gully, above clay cliff; pathway on W side down to rockey shore; earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; Wth 1.4m) running E-W, defines area on landward side (N). Bank stone faced on N side, with shallow depression along base.
