  Built against quarry-face. Random-rubble limestone walls encase core. Front elevation (H c. 5.5m) faces S; central arched recess (H 2.34m; Wth 2.1m; D c. 2m), stoking hole between corbelled stones atop sloping slabs to rear, ope at base (H 0.35m; Wth 0.38m). Ledge (H 3.2m) on front elevation over recess arch. Rough dry-stone wall closes off rear of kiln with stone steps up to top. Top of kiln overgrown, stone-lined funnel (diam. c. 2m) evident. Rectangular area (9.3m ENE-WSW; 4.2m NNW-SSE) enclosed by low collapsing rubble wall (H 0.3m; Wth 1.1m) to NNW and WSW, low rise to SSE and ENE.   In level pasture. Circular, heavily overgrown area (diam. c. 40m) enclosed by two earthen banks with intervening fosse and external fosse. Both banks (inner bank: int. H c. 0.4m; ext. H 3m; outer bank: H 2m) heavily overgrown. Intervening fosse, wide and flat bottomed, waterlogged to E and SE; to NNW external fosse (D 0.8m) skirted by remains of low, stone-faced, field boundary.   In pasture, on gentle WNW-facing slope. Circular area (36m N-S; 34m E-W) enclosed by heavily overgrown, earthen bank (int. H 1.3m; ext. H 1.9m). Break (Wth 5.3m) in bank to WNW. Field clearance-like material dumped against outer face of bank. Outside bank is 4m wide platform defined by scarp (H c. 0.4m). Scarp may be remains of outer bank depicted on 1842 OS 6-inch map which, according to local information, was levelled within living memory.   In flat marsh land. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, on N side of small pond; as hachured circular raised area (diam. c. 20m) on 1905 and 1937 OS 6-inch maps, with pond truncating S side. Irregular shaped platform (24m ENE-WSW; 18m SSE-NNW) on N side of pond; scarp (H 0.9m) forming arc defines NW side; remainder irregular in outline; short section of external fosse (L 6 - 8m; D 0.4m; Wth 3m) survives to SE, where site meets pond. Surface undulations noted in E half of interior. According to local information, pond cleaned out c. 1950s; material from dredging may have been dumped on enclosure, which may explain irregular nature of site. Scarp topped by slight internal lip to N (H 0.3m). Pond on NW side of fort floods fosse to W and N. Field boundary, depicted on 1842 and 1905 OS 6-inch maps skirting fosse ESE->SSW, survives as low rise (H 0.2m); small pond to SE depicted on 1905 OS 6-inch map outside field boundary survives as boggy area.   In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope, above sharp fall of ground down to stream bed. 'Traces' of ringfort, levelled in early 1970s, were still visible when souterrain (CO024-04902-) was discovered in interior (Cleary 1987, 155). No visible surface trace of site.   In levelled ringfort (CO024-04901-). Investigated by Cleary (1987, 155-8), who described single rectangular stone-built chamber (L 3.4m; Wth 1.3m; H c. 1.3m; long axis E-W); roofed with lintels; present access through collapsed lintel. Infilled creepway (L 0.5m) at E end roofed by single slab. Possibly other chambers beyond this creepway. No visible surface trace.
