  Description

  In flat marsh land. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 10m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Levelled; circular slightly raised area (7.6m E-W; 7.5m N-S) defined by scarp (H 0.3m) with traces of internal lip (H 0.15m) along N side; edges denuded by cattle. • CO015-095001 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In pasture, on gentle NW-facing slope, just below top of hill and above steep fall in slope. Circular area (25.3m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.6m; ext. H 1.8m); external fosse (D 0.4m) SW->NE. Outer face of bank denuded to NE exposing stones which may have formed stone facing. Grass-covered remains of funnel of limekiln (CO015-095002-) in bank to E. Bank disturbed by field boundary to S; topped by pump-house to SSE; cut into to SSW. Break (Wth 1.65m) in bank to SW. Interior used as dump for tree stumps; appears to be saucer shaped. Recorded by Bowman (1934, 387) as double-ramparted fort on Mr Lyons's land; 'the outer rampart has been levelled'.   Indicated on the 1842 OS 6-inch map. The grass-covered remains of the funnel of a limekiln were noted at E, in the bank of a ringfort (CO015-095001-).
