Description
In rough grazing; adjacent to stile giving access to holy well (CO083-060002-) c. 50m to NNW. Boulder (c. 2m x c. 1.5m; H c. 0.6m) embedded in ground, has cross scratched on upper surface by pilgrims making rounds in conjunction with holy well. Description
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Roughly circular area (38m E-W; 35m N-S) defined by earthen bank (int. H 0.45m; ext. H 1.7m) SSW->SSE; scarp elsewhere; external fosse (D 0.6m) to N, E and W. Gap in bank to SW. Bank and fosse heaviy overgrown to E; Scots Pine planted in fosse to W. Souterrain (CO083-062002-) in interior; remains of cultivation ridges in SE quadrant. Description
In reclaimed pasture. Two stones indicated on all three editions of the OS 6-inch maps and named 'Gallauns' (1842, 1904) and 'Galláin' (1943). Single upright stone (H 1.4m; 1.10m, x 0.8m; long axis NE-SW). Second stone (H 1.3m; 1.3mx 0.6m), leaning to S, stands c. 3m to N. Immediately N of this is an anomalous group of five boulders (CO083-063002-) surrounding a tree (they have not been placed there within living memory). In pasture, on S-facing slope, on edge of farmyard. Circular area (32m N-S; 31.5m E-W) defined by low earthen bank (int. H 0.4m); external fosse (D 0.8m) NW->N. Bank stone-faced externally to NE and E where skirted by laneway; concrete wall replaces facing to S. Interior saucer-shaped; slopes gently down to S. Description
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Circular area (diam. c. 39m) defined by two earthen banks with intervening fosse (D 1.4m). On N side banks cut into hillside; outer bank (6m across top), extends up hillside and ends where slope breaks to level ground. On S side interior raised; to S inner and outer banks survive as low rises atop steep drops (inner bank: int. H 0.3m; ext. H c. 2.7m, outer bank: ext. H c. 2m), with intervening terrace. Description
In pasture, on S-facing slope of E-W ridge. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure on 1842 OS 6-inch map; oval enclosure (diam. c. 25m) on 1904 and 1943 OSmaps. Arc W->S formed by earthen bank (H 2.34m) survives incorporated into field fence system. External face of bank planted with trees. No visible surface trace of levelled section (S->W); according to local information, levelled early 1960s.
