Description
In pasture, on W-facing slope. Depicted as hachured subsquare enclosure (c. 40m NE-SW; c. 40m NW-SE) on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps, bisected by NE-SW field fence; as hachured, roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1936 OS 6-inch map, defined by bank to SE of field boundary and by scarp elsewhere. Levelled; scarp (H 1.3m) to SW indicates position of levelled bank. Bisecting field boundary survives. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Description
In pasture, atop hill. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured raised area surrounded by fosse on 1904 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. According to local information, levelled c. 1985; formerly enclosed by bank and external fosse and covered in furze bushes. Fosse visible as band of grass, darker in colour than interior and surrounding field. Circular enclosure clearly visible in aerial photograph (GSIAP, R613) as cropmark of bank, with faint trace of second bank visible W->S. Possible ringfort (CO001-012---) in adjoining field.
