  Description

  Abandoned castellated house overlooking Glengarriff Harbour to W; 9-bay, 2-storey with shallow curving bows, embattled square tower at E end. Taller embattled circular tower at NE corner joins main building on to castellated 2-storey wing; set at obtuse angle to main house; with wooden ogee-headed windows and hood mouldings.   Description

  In rough hill pasture, on a terrace on the W-facing slopes of Cobduff overlooking Glengarriff. A circular area (diam. 12m) is defined by contiguous intermittently spaced upright slabs (L 0.9m; T 0.5m; H 0.6m) protruding above the surface of the bog, displayed best along the SE-SW arc. The level interior has a thick covering of moor-grass. There is a second enclosure (CO105-055002-) c. 140m to the SE.   Description

  On a pasture terrace, on the W-facing slopes of Cobduff overlooking Glengarriff. A circular area (diam. 10m) is defined by the jumbled remains of a stone wall (T 0.9m; H 0.45m) NW-SE and elsewhere by the damaged edge of a scarp, from the top of which the enclosing element of stones has largely been removed. A slab, set radially on the perimeter at NE, probably indicates one side of the entrance. The level interior is raised (H 0.2m) at W and cut into the upsloping bank (D 0.8m) at E. An enclosure (CO105-055001-) and a cairn (CO105-055003-) lie c. 140m to the NW and c. 200m to the S, respectively. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.   Description

  On top of an E-W gorse and heather-covered rocky ridge, on the W-facing slopes of Cobduff Mountain, overlooking Glengarriff. A semicircular mound of stones (6.5m N-S; H 0.6m) is what remains of an originally a circular cairn. The semicircular mound comprises stones of varying shapes and sizes and displays traces of a kerb along its SE-SW arc. The N half of the original cairn appears to have been removed, leaving traces of the perimeter stones embedded in the shallow bog. A hut site (CO105-055002-) lies c. 200m to the N.   In rough pasture, on a level narrow shoulder of a S-facing slope. Two upright stones, aligned ENE-WSW, measure 3.1m in overall length.   Description

  Detached nine-bay two-storey former house with pair of three-bay full-height bows, built c.1800, having rectangular-plan three-stage castellated tower with bartizan to south-west and circular-plan tower to north-east corner. Three-bay two-storey wing attached to five-stage circular-plan tower, set at angle to main block, and terminating in three-stage tower with battered base, attached to ogee-headed carriage arch, having three-stage flanking tower. Later in use as hotel, now in ruins. Pitched roof and rendered chimneystacks to three-storey wing. Glazed roof to circular-plan tower. Castellations to three-bay wing and square-plan tower. Rubble limestone walls, with remains of lined-and-ruled, roughcast and smooth rendered walls. Label mouldings to three-storey wing and circular-plan tower openings. Ogee-headed openings with concrete sills and render surrounds to west elevation. Square-headed opening with concrete sills to remaining openings. Pointed arch, square-headed and ogee headed door openings.
