Description
In pasture, on S-facing slope. Depicted as hachured oval enclosure (c. 30m E-W; c. 22m N-S) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; only N half remains on 1905 and 1936 OS 6-inch maps. Arc (30m E-W) formed by low rise survives W->SE. According to local information, 3/4 of circle levelled c. 1966. Description
In pasture, on SW-facing slope. Circular area (29.9m E-W) enclosed by two earthen banks SSW->ESE with intervening fosse and outer fosse; scarp elsewhere, beyond which land falls sharply down to stream bed. Inner bank (int. H 0.6m) very eroded by cattle. Intervening fosse substantial and flat bottomed (Wth 2.1m); partially infilled to E due to slippage from inner bank. Outer bank (H 1.75m to base of fosse) more impressive than inner bank, survives best to N and NE. Outer fosse (D 1.2m) infilled to ESE where feeding trough located. Break in inner bank (Wth 1.5m) and outer bank (H1.2m) to NNW. Interior surface muddy and pockmarked by cattle. - Saints Peter and Paul Church, church/chapel, 1935–1940 · Regional interest
Description
Freestanding gable-fronted Roman Catholic church, dated 1936, having seven-bay nave elevations, chancel projection to west, sacristy to south-west corner, and recent lean-to boilder house to west gable. Confessionals in projections to middle of long walls. Pitched artificial slate roofs with cut limestone copings, replacement uPVC rainwater goods and lined-and-ruled rendered bellcote to gable-front with cast-iron cross finial and bell, and with cross finial to west gable. Painted smooth rendered walls with render plinth, front façade having rendered string course and lined-and-ruled rendered quoins rising to apex of gable-front with corbel detailing. Carved limestone plaque to gable-front. Round-headed windows to nave and to triple-light gable-front window, having stained glass, those to gable-front having render hood-mouldings. Round-headed door opening to gable-front with chamfered render surround, render hood-moulding and painted timber door with decorative now disused wrought-iron hinges. Square-headed doorway to south wall with projecting rendered surround. Square-headed door opening to sacristy with replacement timber battened door and overlight. Sacristy has round-headed windows and square-headed doorway. Interior of church has carved timber gallery, staircase and entrance doors and carved marble tabernacle. Set back from road in lawned site with pebbledashed boundary walls and cast-iron double-leaf and pedestrian gates.

Description
Semi-detached five-bay single-storey house, built c. 1880, with single- and two-storey extensions to rear, windbreak to entrance and incorporating fabric of earlier dwelling. Pitched thatched roof, reed to outer layers, some straw remaining beneath. Replacement timber bargeboard to gable end and rendered chimneystack. Flat roofs to extensions. Smooth rendered walls with dressed limestone quoins, having dressed limestone to windbreak. Timber cladding to extensions. Square-headed window openings with timber lintels, render sills and segmental-headed two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Square-headed door opening with timber lintel and replacement timber battened half-door. Roughly coursed rubble limestone boundary wall to site.
