Description
In pasture, on crest of low ridge. Bowman (1934, 273) recorded two prostrate 'dallans' about 2.1m apart which were partly embedded in ground. Two prostrate slabs visible among field clearance piled on site. Not clear from present position if they were ever standing. Description
In pasture, on gentle SE-facing slope. Circular area (36.5m E-W; 34.5m N-S) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1.9m; ext. H 1.05m), except to E where bank levelled for c. 20m and scarp (H 0.5m) remains; shallow external fosse (D 0.75m). Roadway truncates enclosure on SSE side. Description
In pasture, near top of S-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 35m) on 1842, 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps; limekiln marked on E bank on 1842 OS 6-inch map; external fosse hachured S->N on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps. No visible surface trace of site; according to local information, levelled early 1970s. Bank visible as cropmark in aerial photograph (GSIAP, W400). Recorded by Bowman (1934, 273) as single-ramparted fort (diam. c. 29yd) on M. Kearn's land, with bank c. 4ft and interior c. 1ft higher than outside field level.
