  Description

  On S side of road; roughly circular area (46.2m N-S; 45.8m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank. At W side are remains of parish church of Garranekinnefeake (CO088-00702-). Interior under rough grass, many 18th and 19th century headstones, dating from 1714, with two illegible chest tombs (Coleman 1904-6b). Lying on ground with church remains, rectangular block of stone (0.65m x 0.59m; H 0.25m) with basin-shaped depression (diam. 0.5m; D0.16m), drainage hole at base; Power (1940, 101) describes this as an 'ancient baptismal font'. Power also describes 'a raised platform o rpathway', just inside perimeter fence, where 'the corpse is carried before burial, from left to right'; he sees this as a survival of 'the ancient Irish "deiseal"'. This feature apparent as slightly raised area (Wth 1.5m -2m; H 0.5m), most noticeable to S, immediately inside enclosing bank.   In W side of graveyard (CO088-00701-), overgrown remains of rectangular church (c. 10m E-W; c. 5m N-S). Internal height of N, E and W walls c. 1m; only W has noticeable external height (c. 0.8m); no trace of E wall. Parish church of Garranekinnefeake (Power 1940, 100-2). Marked on 1842 OS 6-inch map as rectangular area (c. 50m ENE-WSW; c. 32m NNW-SSE) planted with trees around edge; 1902 and 1935 OS 6-inch map shows roughly circular area (diam. c. 45m).   Late 18th/early 19th century 3-storey house. Entrance front (E) of 5 bays; central porch entrance. Hipped roof with two off-centre chimneys. Two-bay, 3-storey bow projects from N elevation. According to local information dismantled projection to S called "tower" and was built against an earlier house. Central gabled projection to rear with later additions attached.   Description

  Detached T-plan five-bay three-storey country house, built c. 1780, with single-bay single-storey porch to front (east) elevation, bow to north, gabled single-bay block to rear (west). Lower five-bay two-storey gabled block to west elevation of rear block, built c. 1700, with lower four-bay block to west elevation. Hipped slate roof to main block with rendered chimneystacks, overhanging eaves and cast-iron rainwater goods. Pitched slate roof to rear blocks, hipped and pitched slate roof to westmost block, all having rendered chimneystacks. Lined-and-ruled rendered walls to main block, with render quoins. Exposed rubble stone walls to rear of main block and partially rendered rubble stone walls to other blocks. Ashlar walls to porch with central recess, carved architrave, frieze and cornice. Square-headed diminishing windows to front elevation and to bow with cut limestone sills and timber sliding sash windows, nine-over-six pane to ground floor, six-over-six to first floor, and six-over-three to second floor. Windows to bow bowed. Triple square-headed opening to porch with six-over-six pane flanked by two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows. Round-headed openings to rear block with six-over-six and six-over-three pane timber sliding sash windows and spoked fanlights. Square-headed openings to lower rear blocks with six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows and timber casement windows. Square-headed openings to south elevation with replacement windows. Square-headed opening to porch with timber panelled door and overlight, set in square-headed recessed panel with rectangular recessed panel above and cut limestone threshold. Detached three-bay single-storey with dormer attic house to south-east with recent gabled porch, pitched slate roof with rendered copings to gables, recent dormer windows, roughcast rendered walls, square-headed openings with replacement windows and door. Detached three-bay two-storey former outbuilding, built c. 1790, to north. Recently renovated and now in use as house. Pitched slate roof with timber eaves course and rendered chimneystack. Rubble stone walls, rendered to gables. Square-headed openings with replacement uPVC windows and elliptical-arched opening with recessed surround, dressed stone voussoirs and replacement uPVC door. Lower three-bay double-height block to east with linking bay between. Pitched artificial slate roof, rubble stone walls, square-headed openings with replacement uPVC windows. Remains of rubble stone walls to north and east. Remains of rubble stone wall to north, stepped to east and having square-headed openings. Camber-arched opening with cut stone voussoirs and metal gate.

  Description

  Detached three-bay single-storey over half-basement house, built c. 1860, with lower single-bay two-storey extension on supports and with box oriel window to west and lean-to conservatory to rear (south). Pitched artificial slate roof with decorative timber bargeboards and rendered chimneystack. Rubble stone walls with red brick quoins. Rendered walls to lower block. Square-headed openings to main block with six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows and red brick block-and-start surrounds and voussoirs. Square-headed openings to east gable, with red brick block and start surrounds, one now infilled, one having one-over-one pane timber sliding sash window and cast-iron protective bars. Square-headed openings to lower block with render surrounds and casement windows. Square-headed door opening with timber panelled half-glazed double-leaf door, red brick surround and voussoirs and limestone threshold. Conservatory to rear with fixed timber windows and rendered stall riser. Rubble stone boundary walls. Rendered walls to entrance with camber-headed pedestrian entrance having metal gate and carved limestone plaque. Square-profile rendered piers to entrance with timber battened single and double-leaf gates.
