Ruins of Dangandonovan parish church (CO066-01702-) off-centre to W; large collection of 18th and 19th century headstones dating from 1724 to E and S of church (Henchion 1974, 26-58).   To W of centre in graveyard (CO066-01701-), low overgrown walls (max. H 1.75m) of rectangular church (17m E-W; 8m N-S). Gap near W end of S wall probably indicates position of doorway. Interior used for burial, contains three 18th century headstones, the earliest dated 1744/5 (Henchion 1974, 36). Remains of parish church of Dangandonovan.   Detached five-bay single-storey direct entry thatched house, built c. 1800, having recent flat-roofed porch to front (east) elevation. Pitched thatched roof, half-hipped to south, with red brick chimneystacks. Rendered walls. Square-headed openings with one-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows and half-glazed timber panelled door. Rubble stone walls and square-profile piers to site boundary, with wrought-iron pedestrian gate. Yard to north of site with two-bay single-storey outbuilding having rubble stone walls and lean-to corrugated-iron roof. Single-storey outbuilding with pitched corrugated-iron roof and rendered walls to north range, attached to two-storey two-bay outbuilding with pitched slate roof, and rubble stone walls.

  Detached three-bay single-storey thatched house, built c. 1800, having three-bay hipped roof extension to rear (north-east) elevation, with single-bay flat-roofed extension to north-west elevation of return. Hipped thatched roof, hipped corrugated-iron roof to return, with rendered chimneystacks. Roughcast rendered walls. Square-headed openings with two-over-two pane timber sliding sash windows and half-glazed timber panelled door to north-west elevation. Rendered garden walls with square-profile rendered piers and wrought-iron pedestrian gates. Ruinous remains of single-storey outbuilding to rear of site. Yard to east of house having two-bay single-storey outbuilding with pitched corrugated-iron roof, rendered rubble stone walls and square-headed openings with timber battened doors. Three-bay two-storey outbuilding with pitched corrugated-iron roof, square-headed openings with timber window frames and timber battened door, and segmental-headed carriage arch with double leaf wrought-iron gates. Site entrance to north-west with wrought-iron pedestrian gate and rendered walls and square-profile piers. Site entrance to south-east with rendered square-profile piers and wrought-iron double-leaf gates. Site entrance to field to north-west with rendered square-profile piers and double leaf steel gates.

  Description

  Detached five-bay two-storey over basement former country house, built c. 1810, having flat-roofed half-glazed timber panelled porch with ionic portico to front (south) elevation. Now in use as house. Hipped slate roof with dressed limestone chimneystacks and cast-iron rainwater goods. Rendered walls. Square-headed window openings having six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows to first floor, nine-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows to ground floor, six-over-six pane timber sliding sash and timber casement windows to basement, and six-over-three and six-over-six pane timber sliding sash windows and timber casement windows to rear elevation. Round-headed opening with nine-over-six timber sliding sash window. Square-headed opening with timber battened door and vertically divided overlight to rear elevation. Square-headed opening to front porch with timber panelled half-glazed double-leaf doors flanked by engaged ionic columns, in turn flanked by traceried sidelights, the whole flanked by further engaged ionic columns and surmounted by a traceried overlight. Twelve-pane fixed timber windows to sides of porch, flanked by Doric pilasters. Festooned frieze and dentillated cornice to porch entablature, projecting as portico and supported by ionic columns. Enclosed yard immediately to rear of house comprising multiple-bay single- and two-storey outbuildings with pitched and hipped slate roofs. West range comprising five-bay two-storey outbuilding with pitched slate roof having red brick bellcote, partially rendered rubble stone walls, segmental-headed integral carriage arch and square-headed openings with timber fittings. South range comprising six-bay two-storey outbuilding having hipped slate roof, rendered walls, segmental-headed carriage arch and square-headed openings with timber fittings. East range comprising three-bay two-storey outbuilding with pitched slate roof, rendered walls, segmental-headed carriage arch and square-headed openings with timber fittings. Three-bay two-storey former outbuilding now in use as house, having wrought-iron balcony, pitched slate roof with red brick and rendered chimneystacks, rubble stone walls and square-headed openings with replacement timber fittings. South range comprising T-plan six-bay single-storey outbuilding having pitched slate roofs, partially rendered rubble stone walls and square-headed openings with timber fittings. Square-profile rubble stone piers to site entrance with double-leaf wrought-iron gates.
