  Description

  In pasture, commanding view NW along stream valley and Aultagh Wood. Roughly circular area (diam. c. 100m) marked on both editions of OS 6-inch map (1842; 1904); enclosing bank levelled; visible on aerial photograph (GSAP); W half destroyed by quarrying. Burial ground (CO094-08002-) in S quadrant of interior; souterrain (CO094-121---) in N quadrant. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. • CO094-080002 Burial ground
  Description

  Marked 'Kill Grave Yd.' on OS 6-inch map (1842). In S quadrant of early ecclesiastical enclosure (CO094-080001-). Subcircular area (28m NE-SW; 10m NW-SE) of rough pasture with mound (L 4m; Wth 0.3m; H 0.4m) in SE quadrant. Stones exposed on surface of mound. Stone-lined grave uncovered in 1981 while clearing topsoil at edge of burial ground; grave immediately filled in. • CO094-121 Souterrain
  Description

  In N quadrant early ecclesiastical enclosure (CO094-08001-). Discovered November 1981 during quarrying. Three chambers cut into gravel; considerable collapse had occurred in all chambers; Chamber 1: L 2.7m; Wth 1.2m; H 1.2m. Chamber 2: L 2.5m; Wth 1.4m; H 0.94m. Chamber 3: L 2.1m; Wth 1.9m; H 1m; (all measurements approximate). Four sandstone slabs set in S wall chamber 3. Passage to chamber 3 exposed in quarry face. (pers. comm. Dr. A. Lynch).
