  Description

  At foot of rocky knoll on SE-facing slope with extensive outlook over River Laney valley. Large boulder beside monument to S. Comprises wedge-shaped gallery (L 2.4m; Wth 1.55m at W, 0.7m at E end) aligned ENE-WSW, represented by two sidestones to N, three to S and backstone outside gallery walls at E end; surrounded by closely-set outer walling. Gallery is covered by single roof stone. Traces of possible mound to S and W of gallery. Wedge-tomb (6426) stands c. 220m to SSW.   In pasture, towards top of hill, on SE-facing slope. Circular area (14.4m N-S; 14.4m E-W) enclosed by earth and stone bank (int. H 0.85m; ext. H 0.4m). Bank topped by stone wall of upright slabs set radially. Break (Wth 8m) in bank to ENE. Interior level and planted with coniferous trees. Wedge tomb (6421) in adjoining field to NW.   In pasture, on S-facing slope. Depicted as hachured circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) on 1842 OS 6-inch map; as hachured oval raised area on 1903 and 1940 OS 6-inch maps. Oval, raised area (38m N-S; 32m E-W) defined by earthen bank SE->NNW; natural scarp elsewhere. Interior slopes down gently to NE, broken by rock outcrops; possible souterrain (9080) in S half. • CO059-187 Megalithic tomb - wedge tomb
  Description

  On a gently sloping shoulder on a NE-facing slope in the foothills of the Boggeragh Mountains with fine views to the E over the valley of the Awboy River. The remains consist of a gallery (L 1.55m; Wth 0.9m at W, narrowing to 0.55m at E) aligned NW-SE, covered by a single roofstone (2.45m x 2.15m; T 0.35m). The gallery is represented by three sidestones to the N and three to the S with a transversely set jamb-like stone at its W end. The gallery is closed by a backstone at E. Two outer-wall stones to the N of the gallery lean markedly to the N and a large outer-wall stone is set 0.4m outside the backstone at E.
