Description
A pit was exposed during archaeological testing in 2002 in advance of the construction of the N8 Rathcormac-Fermoy Bypass in 2002. Subsequent excavation revealed that the pit contained Beaker pottery, a flint scraper and flint debitage. Radiocarbon samples from this pit returned dates of 2490-2190 cal. BC and 2170-2150 cal. BC (pers. comm. T. O'Neill). Two small spreads, possibly associated with the pit, were also excavated. (O'Neill 2006e, 65) The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 5' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). Date of upload: 22 December 2009
