Temporary works will be required to accommodate the delivery of the turbine components. These temporary works are included as part of this application and are located in the townlands of Castledonovan, Derreenacrinnig East, and Derreenacrinnig West. The development will consist of: Construction of 3 no. wind turbines with an overall ground to blade tip height of 119.3m with a rotor diameter of 82m and a hub height of 78.3m. Construction of 1 no. permanent 20 kV Electrical Substation, all associated electrical plant and equipment, all associated underground cabling, and all ancillary structures and works. Construction of one Temporary Construction Compound with associated temporary site offices, parking areas and security fencing. Upgrade and reuse of existing hardstands.   Description

  In pasture, on crest of hill. Circular slightly raised area (29.3m N-S; 29.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1m), stone-faced externally. Possible souterrain (CO106-056---) in interior; standing stone (CO106-02002-) inside N bank. Myler (1998, 42) recorded that there was a 'local tradition of a souterrain with this fort although there is no location visible. This tunnel was said to connect with the ringfort in Laharanshermeen' (CO106-081----). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.   Description

  Inside N bank of ringfort (CO106-02001-). Irregular stone aligned N-S (H 1.2m; 0.9m x 0.3m). Myler (1998, 42) recorded 'two standing stones of 4ft. in height' beside the NW bank and two corresponding stones on the outside of the bank. Circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) defined by bank NW->NE (H 0.4m); scarp SE->SW (H 0.65m); truncated to W by N-S field fence. Entrance to SE, defined to S by radially-set stone (L 1m; 0.8m; 0.25m). Second stone outside gap in bank to NW. N half interior overgrown. (WBBS). Myler (1998, 40) records that 'just south of this ringfort in a dense patch of blackthorns are the remains of an old dwelling site or Coulach'.
