  Description

  In glen, c. 20m E of stream. Hachured as mound (diam. c. 30m) on 1936 OS 6-inch map. Natural hillock. Probably 'Cnocán na bPaidreacha, little hill of the prayers' recorded by McCarthy (1991, 86), as 'sited in a lonely glen...a cone shaped mound' where 'many years ago rosary beads were found'. Bowman (1934, 108) noted tradition that Mass was celebrated there in the Penal Times. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
