Description
Below crest of hill, on SE shoulder of Mount Hillary. Oval area (70m WNW-ESE; 66m WSW-ENE) enclosed by low earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 0.25m) with internal fosse (D 0.35m). Break (Wth 3m) in bank to NW. Interior slopes down to W. Cairn (11811) c. 150m to E of enclosure, but not visible from it. Description
Marked 'Money's Castle (in ruins)' on 1842 OS 6-inch map. On top of a hill, on SE shoulder of Mount Hillary. Roughly circular cairn (diam. c. 16m; H 1.8m) with higher, more recent cairn in centre (H 1.2m). Often confused with modern cairn on W shoulder of Mount Hillary, both of which are referred to locally as 'Daddy Morey's Castle'.
