Description
In pasture, c. 100m SE of Awbeg River. Circular platform (44m ENE-WSW; 38m SSE-NNW) raised c. 0.6m above surrounding field; enclosed by fosse and outer bank NNW->SW; truncated by railway line SW->NNW. Fosse (D 0.7m; Wth 4m) deepest to NE. Outer bank (H 1.5m) highest to N and S where incorporated into field fence system; grass covered and low to SE. Faint trace of outer fosse to E (max. D 0.6m). Remains of cultivation ridges cross interior on NNW-SSE axis. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Description
In reclaimed pasture, c. 200m N of Garrane River. Rectangular area (c. 30m N-S; c. 25m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.95m; ext. H 1m) with external fosse (D 0.8m). Bank heavily overgrown; substantial on W side; low on N side; narrower to S, possibly due to disturbance. Cattle gap in N bank. Fosse mainly dry except to E where partially waterlogged; infilled along E half of S side. Midway along S side drain leads from interior S into surrounding field. Interior inaccessible due to overgrowth. Listed by Barry (1981, 83, no. 61). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Description
Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1910, having two-bay single-storey extension to rear. Pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks. Painted rendered walls. Square-headed six-over-one pane timber sliding sash windows, bipartite to outer bays, with painted render sills. Square-headed tripartite six-over-one pane window to extension with flanking four-over-one pane timber sliding sash side sashes. Render canopy to square-headed door opening with replacement uPVC door. Square-headed door opening with timber battened door to extension. Square-profile painted rendered piers with recessed panels and ornate caps having double-leaf cast-iron gates. Painted rendered walls with render copings terminating in second pair of piers.
