Description
In pasture, on high ground at top of stream valley, surrounded by hills. Square area (27m N-S; 26.5m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 1m; ext. H 1m), stone-faced in parts. External fosse evident as differential growth pattern and as slight depression (D 0.2m) on S side. Interior grass-covered with furze bushes in NE quadrant and rushes in W half, close to bank. On 1842 OS 6-inch map, indentation in hachured bank at SW corner respects spring well; no visible surface trace of well. Description
In pasture, on steep N-facing slope, on W side of Moynass Mountain. Subcircular area (26m N-S; 26 E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (int. H 0.4m; ext. H 1.5m) on N side; low denuded earthen bank on E side; inward-facing scarp (H c. 0.5m) on S side; with substantial field boundary S->NW. Numerous gaps worn through bank. Remains of stone facing noted on bank to N and on scarp to S. Interior slopes down to N; raised on N side to compensate for hillslope. No visible surface trace of enclosure on W side of field boundary; drain cut along E side of field boundary. Description
On S side of road. A 2-storey residential house, rectangular in plan (long axis E-W). Road front (N) of 3 bays, with central rectangular door ope and plate-glass sash windows; ground-floor windows have limestone sills. Hipped roof with central brick chimney stack. Single-storey gabled addition against E elevation; lean-to addition to rear. Indicated on 1842 OS 6-inch map and named 'Methodist Chapel'; indicated but not named on 1905 and 1935 OS 6-inch maps. According to local information, a souterrain was discovered here in the 1990s when the ground collapsed during ploughing and revealed a stone-built passage orientated N-S.
