No. 23/04245, comprising 48 no. single-storey BESS units, 4 no. single-storey power conversion system (PCS) units, 4 no. single-storey transformer stations, 1 no. firewater storage tank, underground cabling, internal access tracks, security fencing and gate, landscaping, and all associated site and development works including the reuse of excavated material on site to form an earthen berm along the northern and western boundaries of the BESS compound. The total length of the cable is c.4,449m of which c.2,021m will be within the jurisdiction of Cork County Council and c.2,428m within the jurisdiction of Cork City Council. A concurrent planning application will be lodged with Cork City Council for the remainder of the underground cable along the public roads to allow connection to the Kilbarry 110kV Substation in Blackpool, Cork City under Section 34 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (PDA)(as amended).

In pasture on SE-facing slope. Stone (H 80in, Wth 27in, T 8in) in this field recorded by Condon (1916, 73). Removed c. 1973, according to local information. Description
No visible surface remains of castle marked as 'in ruins' on map of 1777 (Healy 1988, 64) but shown as 'site of' on 1842 OS 6-inch map. Site now partially occupied by slurry pit; slight rise to W and slope down on S and W sides to stream. Nearby farm buildings built with stone from castle according to local information. Barry castle, held by branch of family descended from David fitz David Barry Roe (O Murchadha 1985, 30). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
