Description
Discovered September 1970. Twohig (1973, 35-6) described single stone-built chamber (L 3.7m; Wth 1.1m; H 1.4m), roughly rectangular in plan and barrel-shaped in section; walls roughly coursed; upper courses corbelled to take roofing slabs. Ventilation shaft or possible original souterrain entrance in W end wall, now blocked. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
