Description
In tillage, on E-facing slope close to E shore of Great Islanf. No trace of castle or tower but part of bawn wall and corner tower survive. Rectangular area (c. 60m N-S; c. 50m E-W) enclosed by high ivy-clad wall to W (H c.3m) with short right-angled return (L 9.5m) at N end to E; line of wall continues E as break in slope (H c. 0.7m). To E and S, area enclosed by low overgrown wall (H c. 1m). At S end of W wall part of ground floor of rectangular tower survives (6.2m N-S); projects c. 2m W from line of W wall; E side does not survive. No dateable features noted. Castle probably originally built by Barry family (Healy 1988, 157). The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Description
On edge of steep drop to E shore of Ballynacorra river estuary. Hachured on 1935 OS 6-inch map as sub-circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m). Healy (1904, 114-5) describes it as being 'of very great size....though a large portion of it has disappeared....Some of the embankments of the rath are not less than twelve feet high'. Vincent MacMahon (pers. comm. May 1990) describes 'a low earthen bank (bordering the) NE and E, the NE bank possibly part of the original ringfort bank as suggested by locals'. Most of interior now damaged or built over by development of private marina. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Description
Detached three-bay single-storey school, dated 1884, with gabled projection to front (north) elevation and recent full-length pitched-roofed block forming double-pile to rear (south). Pitched artificial slate roof with cast-iron rainwater goods and decorative red brick and rendered chimneystacks. Red brick walls with red brick string courses and plinth. Yellow brick string course to gabled projection. Circular recesses with yellow brick surrounds to gables. Carved limestone date plaque to gabled projection with yellow brick surround. Rendered walls to rear (south) block and to east. Square-headed openings with decorative red and yellow brick surrounds and timber windows. Triple square-headed openings to east and west gables of north block, those to east with decorative yellow brick block-and-start surrounds and yellow and red brick voussoirs and timber windows. Square-headed openings to gabled projection with yellow brick voussoirs and recent timber doors. Dressed and tooled limestone piers to entrance having dressed caps and metal gates. Cut limestone plinth wall with metal railings to site boundary. Artificial slate. Cast iron rainwater goods. Cut limestone piers.

Description
Detached T-plan five-bay single-storey house, built c. 1800, with single-bay single-storey pitched-roofed block to central bay of rear (west) elevation and single-bay-single-storey flat-roofed addition to rear, south bay. Now disused. Pitched corrugated-iron roof with rendered chimneystacks and render copings to gables. Painted rubble stone wall. Rendered walls to rear. Square-headed openings, some now infilled with timber. Square-headed opening to rear block with three-pane timber casement window. Square-headed door opening with timber battened door.
