Description
Marked 'Standing Stone' on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch maps and as 'Standing Stone (site of)' on the 3rd edition. There are no visible remains. Situated on pasture land sloping slightly downhill to SE. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.' - Knowhead Presbyterian Church, church/chapel, 1860–1870 · Regional interest
Description
Freestanding gable-fronted Presbyterian church, dated 1865, having pedimented entrance front with render Tuscan pilasters to corners and flanking central doorway, four-bay side elevations (south-west and north-east), and with single-storey vestry to rear (north-east). Pitched artificial slate roof with clay ridge tiles. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls to front elevation over projecting smooth rendered plinth course, roughcast rendered walls to the side elevations, and to the rear and vestry. Smooth rendered entablature and smooth rendered moulded coping to pediment, smooth rendered pedestals and capitals to pilasters; rendered roundel motif\date plaque to Tympanum having decorative moulded acanthus leaves surround and painted inscription reading ‘Knowhead Presbyterian Church, rebuilt 1865. Round-headed window openings with rendered sills and replacement windows. Central round-headed entrance door opening having replacement timber double-doors surmounted by timber fanlight. Set back from road to the south-west of the centre of Muff. Tarmacadam forecourt and carpark to site. Detached four-bay two-storey former hall or Sunday school adjacent to the west having pitched slate roof with rendered chimneystacks to the gable ends, roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth, and with smooth rendered block quoins to the corners, square-headed openings with replacement fittings, and with square-headed doorway at first floor level reached by external flight of concrete steps flanked by rendered walls. Roughcast rendered boundary wall to road-frontage to the north having smooth rendered coping over. Vehicular gateway to north comprising rendered gate piers (on square-plan) having stepped coping over, and with a pair of wrought-iron gates with spear finials over; gateway to the north-east of site comprising rendered gate piers (on square-plan) having stepped coping over, and with a pair of modern metal gates. Detached hall (see 40821003) adjacent to the east and associated former Presbyterian manse (see 40821001) located a short distance to the south-east.

Description
Detached gable-fronted five-bay double-height Presbyterian memorial hall, dated 1921, having central single-bay single-storey gable-fronted entrance porch to the front elevation (north) and with modern single-storey extension to the rear (south). Pitched artificial slate roof having moulded render eaves course, clay ridge tiles and replacement rainwater goods. Roughcast rendered walls over smooth rendered plinth having moulded rendered triangular pediment to entrance front with raised render inscription and date reading ‘Knowhead Memorial Hall 1921’, moulded stringcourse to side and front elevations brought over window openings as hoodmoulding, rendered sill course, and with raised rendered block quoins to the corners of the front elevation (north). Round-headed window openings having stone sills and with timber fixed-pane windows having spoked heads. Central round-headed door opening to porch having replacement timber double-doors having modern fanlight over. Set back from road to the south-west of the centre of Muff. Tarmacadam forecourt and carpark to site. Roughcast rendered boundary wall to road-frontage to the north having smooth rendered coping over. Vehicular gateway to north comprising rendered gate piers (on square-plan) having stepped coping over, and with a pair of modern metal gates. Located in shared grounds with Knowhead Presbyterian church (see 40821002) located adjacent to the west. Former Presbyterian manse (see 40821001) located a short distance to the south-east.

Description
Detached three-bay two-storey house, built c. 1900, with two-bay two-storey return to rear and single-storey conservatory extension to gable. Pitched artificial slate roof with gable ended yellow brick chimneystacks with cornice and terracotta pots to main house. Pitched slate roof with red brick gable end chimneystack with cornice to rear return. Replacement rainwater goods. Smooth rendered ruled-and-lined walls with smooth rendered block-and-start quoins and continuous hoodmoulding incorporating keystone detail to ground and first floors. Square-headed window openings with tripartite windows to ground floor comprising four-over-four timber sash windows and two-over-two timber sashes with two tone coloured glass panes and painted sills with six-over-six timber sashes over; one-over-one with margin lights over door. Square-headed door opening with double leaf glazed timber door with glazed overlight. Set within own grounds with farmyard complex with extensive outbuildings to rear and earlier house (see 40903919) to the east.

Description
Detached three-bay two-storey house built c. 1860, with return to rear. Hipped artificial slate roof with stone modillion brackets supporting projecting eaves. Pitched gabled artificial slate roofs with paired roughcast rendered chimneystacks with terracotta pots and replacement rainwater goods to rear. Pitched slate roof with clayware ridge tiles, high roughcast rendered chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods to return. Roughcast rendered walls with smooth rendered block-and-start quoins and moulded stringcourse to just below eaves level. Smooth rendered walls to return. Square-headed window openings with tripartite uPVC sashes to ground floor, paired round-headed window openings over with two-over-two timber sashes, square-headed window openings to gable with two-over-two timber sashes with margin panes, all with stone sills. Segmental arch-headed central door opening with glazed overlight, moulded timber jambs and consoles with timber panelled door addressed by stone steps. Set within own grounds with farmyard complex with extensive outbuildings to rear and later house (40903917) to the west.
