• DG028-009 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  Internal diam. 20m-30m. A roughly circular area enclosed by a stone wall. Basal layers of the wall survive in a few places, and it measured 2.15m wide at one point on the N side. Over the remainder the wall is traceable as a low grassed-over, stony bank. The interior slopes down from N to S in line with the natural slope. It is sited on a flattish terrace on the S slope of the steep-sided Lehardan Hill in an area of rock outcrop and rough grazing. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal. A description of the field antiquities of the County from the Mesolithic Period to the 17th century.'
