  Description

  In peatland, on an SE-facing slope overlooking Loch an Iúir. According to local tradition this is the burial ground of soldiers killed in a battle between the O'Donnells and the O'Neills in 1435 AD. There are no remains visible at ground level.   Description

  In peatland, on an SE-facing slope overlooking Loch an Iúir. This is a small irregularly-shaped 'island' (max. dim. c. 15m; H c. 0.9m) within an extensive area of cut-away bog. In the NE face numerous (c. 50) small stones (max. dim. c. 0.5m) are visible. None of these appear to be set. A large number of similiar stones are strewn on the current bog floor for up to 6m NE of from this face. There are also a considerable quantity of stones (c. 30) visible in the NW face. Stones are not present in any of the the other bog banks in the area. There was a large-scale battle in this general area in between the O'Neills and O'Donnells in 1435 AD and, according to one local informant, this is the burial ground of some of those killed and the stones mark their graves.   Description

  On a SE-facing slope overlooking Lough Anure. Not marked on the 1835 edition of the OS 6-inch map. Depicted on the 1907 map as a small circular enclosure. This is named 'Dún' on an Irish language version of the 25-inch map in the possession of a local historian. This feature, probably a cashel, is thought to be connected to a large-scale battle in 1435 between the O'Neills and the O'Donnells. There are no remains now visible at ground level.   Description

  Detached nine-bay single-storey H-plan vocational school, built 1936-8, having three-bay projections flanking recessed three-bay entrance, and with series of single-storey structures to rear. Flat felt roof, having projecting parapets with rendered copings and moulded eaves course, with stepped pediment detail over entrance. Smooth-rendered walls on smooth-rendered plinth course, with sill course, and having slight projection to entrance proper, with recessed panel inscribed 'Ceárd Scoil'. Square-headed timber casement windows. Double-leaf timber battened door with glazed panel, approached by concrete ramp with metal railings. Random rubble boundary wall to front, with flat rendered coping and square-plan rendered piers with metal gates. Former single-storey tool shed of c.1953 to north, having hipped cement-tiled roof with modern fascia and replacement rainwater goods, smooth-rendered walls with margins and plinth, and with square-headed openings throughout.
