A concurrent planning application is being made to Fingal County Council which relates to the lands directly to the north of the site of c.1.65 ha for the construction of A Grid Stabilisation Facility containing 1 No. High Inertia Synchronous Compensator (HISC) unit enclosed within a steel clad framed style structure (12.1m max height) and supported by 8 No. electrical equipment containers (containing ancillary power supply products including a static frequency converts, MV switchgear, exciters, LV distribution, control room, welfare and office), main, auxiliary & start-up electrical transformers, generator circuit breaker, switchgear equipment, External cooler units and 1 No. back up diesel generator and associated diesel storage tank; A 220kV High Voltage Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) compound containing a GIS building with all control & HV equipment within a single storey building (13.2m max height). The building will be surrounded by a compound road and contained within a 2.6m high galvanised steel palisade fence; A 220kV underground cable to the existing adjoining Eirgrid substation boundary; Associated elements comprising a clear span bridge over the River Mayne, various underground cables and ducts, equipment plinths, boundary security fence, compound lighting and palisade gates and fencing, security lighting, CCTV, internal access roads, hardstanding areas and all necessary foundations works for the above compounds.   Description

  A circular ring-ditch visible as a crop mark on an aerial photograph (SMR file; pers. comm. T. Condit). Situated within an open field of tillage on what was once one of Belcamp College's playing pitches jc.70m north of a steep scarp which descends to a stream known as Belcamp River (Mac Shamhráin 1984, 141). There is a tradition of a ringfort on the grounds of the Oblate College at Belcamp Hall. It appears as a cropmark on an aerial photograph (OS 5092) and is visible on Bing aerial (viewed 27/01/2015).   Description

  Archival Record [Demolished 2001]: Detached three-bay two-storey house, c.1820, on a rectangular plan with pair of single-bay two-storey bows framing prostyle distyle Ionic portico to ground floor. ROOF: Hipped slate roof on a quadrangular plan behind parapet with half-conical slate roofs (bows), ridge tiles, rendered chimney stacks on axis with ridge having stepped capping supporting yellow terracotta pots, and concealed rainwater goods with cast-iron hoppers and downpipes. WALLS: Roughcast walls bellcast over rendered plinth with coping to parapet. OPENINGS: Central door opening behind prostyle distyle Ionic portico. Square-headed window openings with sills, and concealed dressings framing replacement uPVC casement windows. SITE: Set back from road in landscaped grounds.

  Attached seven-bay three-storey over basement red brick country house, c.1785, originally detached. Three-bay full-height central breakfront with rusticated ashlar granite to ground floor. Three-bay full height central bow to rear façade. Now in use as ecclesiastical residence and school. Detached eight-bay subterranean cellar range c.1785 at basement level to west of entrance façade. ROOF: Flat-roofed, originally pitched. Red brick chimneys with clayware pots. Cast-iron rainwater goods. WALLS: Red brick Flemish bond, with rusticated granite ashlar to ground floor central breakfront. Carved granite stringcourse to ground floor. Red brick parapet. OPENINGS: Timber sash windows with granite sills, set in round headed openings to ground floor, with square headed openings above. Timber panelled door with fanlight above. Venetian windows to side elevations. Glazed timber doors to rear. INTERIOR: Very fine oval entrance hall

  Detached two-stage square-plan memorial, built 1778, with corner towers and crenellated parapet. Date given on plaque with inscription 'Washington memorial tower built by Edw.   Attached red brick Gothic Revival style chapel, built 1903, on a cruciform plan. Four-bay side elevation to nave with single-bay transepts attached to east and west, and having apse to north. Designed by architect George Coppinger Ashlin. Stained glass windows by Harry Clarke. Single-bay projecting porch to south-west.ROOF: Double pitched slate, half conical to apse, with decorative clay ridge tiles, lead flashings and cast-iron rainwater goods. Celtic cross style finials to gables. WALLS: Red brick English garden bond, with Flemish bond plinth having limestone copings. Limestone ashlar stringcourse, red brick moulded cornice and red brick pilasters. Scalloped features over window openings. Limestone ashlar plaque to apse. OPENINGS: Lead framed stained glass windows set in round headed opening, paired and tripartite, with limestone block-and-start archivolts, sill course and hood mouldings. Timber tongue and groove door, c.1980, with limestone ashlar block-and-start surround.

Red brick chimneys, clay ridge tiles and cast-iron rainwater goods. WALLS: Red brick Flemish bond, with string courses to each floor and moulded brick cornice. OPENINGS: Timber sash windows and replacement uPVC casement windows with stone sills, set in square headed openings to basement and ground floor, in round headed openings to first floor. Venetian style window to breakfront. Replacement timber panelled and glazed door.

WALLS: Red brick Flemish bond with moulded red brick cornice. OPENINGS: Timber sash and replacement uPVC windows with concrete sills, set in square headed openings to ground floor and second floor, in round headed openings to first floor. Sandstone ashlar block-and-start door surround.
