Description
Situated in flat pasture N of stream. An aerial photograph taken in 1971 (FSI 159/160) shows cropmark evidence for a circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m). Description
Excavations in 1995 of a circular mound revealed an enclosing fosse (Wth 0.7m; D 0.25) which produced flint flakes and modern pottery. A copper-alloy brooch pin was found at the edge of the mound. The removal of the mound exposed an earlier ditch that produced cremated bone and a funnel-shaped pit complex which produced iron slag and an unidentified iron object (Mullins 1996, 13). Detached eight-bay single-storey house, c.1860, currently unoccupied. Roughcast rendered walls with pronounced base batter to road side. Pitched slate roof with perforated cresting, carved barge boards and single chimney stack. Blocked entrance gate in the boundary wall to east.

Replacement bracketed hipped slate roof with two rendered chimney stacks. Modern extension to south.

Group of former domestic outbuildings comprising five-bay two-storey former stables, c.1850, with single-storey buildings including coach house flanking. Coursed squared limestone walls with pair of carriage arches and two timber casement windows, and pitched corrugated roof to coach house. Roughcast rendered walls with timber panelled door in round-headed opening having architrave surround, and late nineteenth-century timber sash windows. Hipped slate roof, conical above bows, with two rendered chimney stacks. Ashlar limestone gate piers with replacement cast-iron gates, with cylindrical roughcast piers flanking.
