• GA085-010 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  In level grassland, c. 220m SW of the Raford River. Very poorly preserved subcircular rath (77m NE-SW; 68m NW-SE) defined by a bank and external fosse. The bank, which is overlain by a number of field walls, is most clearly visible from E to SSE; a scarp forms the enclosing element from NNW to NE. The fosse is extant from E through S to NNW. • GA085-011 Ringfort - rath
  Description

  On a prominent rise in grassland, c. 30m E of the Raford River. Well-preserved subcircular rath (43m E-W; 38m N-S) defined by a bank with traces of an external fosse at NE. Quarrying has disturbed the bank at W and NW and a number of gaps are evident; one at S (Wth 3.5m) may mark the original entrance. A shed has been built into the outer face of the bank at E. Traces of internal stone-facing survive along it at S. A children's burial ground (GA085-011001-) lies within the NW quadrant of the interior.   Description

  Within the NW quadrant of a rath (GA085-011----). This roughly D-shaped area (20.5m N-S; 9m E-W) is delimited by the bank of the rath at W and by the line of a possible souterrain (GA085-011002-) at E.   Description

  Within the NW quadrant of a rath (GA085-011----). An L-shaped depression (L >20m.5m; Wth 3m; D 0.5-1.2m) indicates the site of a possible souterrain. The long axis (L 11.5m) runs NNE-SSW and the shorter axis (L 9m) extends from its S end and runs NE-SW. No stonework is visible.
