The development will consist of the refurbishment of the Cloon- Lanesboro 110 KV Overhead line which will primarily include: replacement of a large proportion of existing structures, the breaking out and reconstruction of the concrete foundation and shear blocks at the majority of end/angle mast structures, painting of mast structures, replacement of insulators, crossarms, stays and/or fittings on existing structures; and the fitting of bird flight diverters and stay guards. No additional structures are proposed along the existing circuit. Any replacement structures will be constructed at, or immediately adjacent to the existing structures they will replace, and will be replaced, and will be of a generally similar height and appearance. Associated site development works to gain access to the existing structures include clearance of vegetation, disassembly and reassembly of stone walls and gate posts and removal and reinstatement of existing fencing. The proposed development includes all other associated and ancillary site development works required for the refurbishment of the existing circuit, including the installation of temporary silt traps, silt fences, bog mats and clear span bridges. No additional structures and no alteration to the nature, extent, alignment, character or voltage of the existing structure. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) forms part of this application.

Description
On a NW-facing slope in grassland, overlooking bogland to W. Very poorly preserved subcircular rath (NE-SW 26.5m, NW-SE 24.9m) defined by a scarp, intervening fosse and outer bank, best preserved from W to N. No visible surface trace of the fosse and outer bank survives from N through E to SW. There is a CBG (GA043-045001-) within thr interior. Within a ringfort (GA043-045----). According to local information, the interior of the ringfor twas used as a CBG up to 46 years ago. On top of an esker ridge in farmland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a rectangular enclosure (NE-SW c. 40m, NW-SW c. 30m).
