- GA086-134 Quarry
Description
At the N end of a hummock in pastureland. A hachured feature marked on the 1947-8 revision of the OS 6-inch map proved on inspection in 1985 to be a disused quarry. As it is of post-AD 1700 date it does not come within the remit of the Archaeological Survey of Ireland. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 22 July 2014
- GA086-135001 Ringfort - rath
Description
At S end of a ridge in undulating grassland. Subcircular rath (N-S 36m, E-W 33m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank survives from NNW to NE and at SW; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The intervening fosse and outer bank are extant from W through N to NE. Three low berms are all that survive of the outer bank from NE to SE; it and the fosse have been disturbed by quarrying from SE to WSW. Within the interior are a probable souterrain (GA086-135004-), and a subcircular structure (NNW-SSE 2.6m, NNE-SSW 1.8m) defined by a grassed-over stony bank with a possible entrance (Wth 2.1m) at E, probably a house (GA086-135003-). Some 30m to E is a small oval enclosure defined by an earthen bank, and to W a short stretch of road (L c. 12m, Wth c. 6m) lined with large boulders: these are probably later features. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

- GA086-135004 Souterrain
Description
In NW quadrant of a ringfort (GA086-135001-). What is visible are two contiguous overgrown stony depressions, 1.5m apart, both roughly rectangular in plan. In E depression (N-S 3.4m, E-W 1.5m), which is up to 0.8m in depth, moss-covered stones protrude from N and E sides, while W depression (N-S 4.8m, E-W 3m), 0.3m in depth, is strewn with loose stone. Some 8m to W of the latter is another parallel nettle-filled depression (N-S 5.5m, Wth 3.5m). Possibly also associated. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'.
