Description
On W slope of a ridge to SE of Carrowndulla Lough. Poorly preserved rectangular cashel (L 23.8m; Wth 22m) defined by a much-collapsed grassed-over drystone wall. Possible entrance at SSW. Abutting the inner face of the wall at W is a rectangular house (L 10.9m, Wth 7.8m). Description
At the foot of a hillslope c. 140m NNW of a CBG (GA067-018----). This holy well, correctly Tobar Gráineog (?), consists of a natural spring enclosed by a circular drystone wall (D 1.6m). According to local tradition it was used for the baptism of young children. The altar, which lies c. 6m to SE, consists of a ruinous rectangular platform (L 1.8m, Wth 1.2m, H 0.6m) of drystone construction. The latter is mistakenly referred to by Killanin (1947, 120, 124) as a megalithic tomb. Description
On a ridge overlooking Knockaffrin Lough to ENE. This CBG, correctly Cill na gCimóg (?), consists of a subrectangular area (N-S c. 16.85m) defined by a low drystone wall (Wth 1.8m, H 1m). The interior is totally overgrown but two small headstone-like uprights are visible at W, incorporated into the surrounding wall. A holy well (GA067-017001-) lies c. 140m to NNW. In undulating boggy marshland to the south of Knockaffrin Lough. Poorly preserved, much-overgrown subcircular enclosure (E-W 25.6m, N-S 23.6m) defined by a bank of earth and stone, no visible trace of which occurs from WNW to N. Gaps occur at ESE, S and SW.
