- GA061-117 Enclosure
Description
In level pastureland, formerly demesne land. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a circular tree-planted enclosure. The visible remains comprise a large well-preserved circular enclosure (D 51m) defined by a flat-topped regular bank (H 1.8m) and a shallow external fosse (Wth 1.8m). A number of gaps are present but that at SW (Wth 4m) is probably the original entrance. Mature sycamore and ash trees grow along the bank. Probably a tree-ring, but the possibility of it being a landscaped ringfort cannot be ruled out. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
- GA074-075 Ringfort - unclassified
Description
In level grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (N-S 49m, E-W 45m) defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The outer bank survives from SSW to SW. Gap (Wth 7m) at E could be original. A number of field boundaries radiate from the monument. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010

Description
In pastureland. Marked on 3rd ed. of OS 6-inch map (1948) as a circular enclosure (D c. 40m). Description
In flat pastureland c. 40m N of a stream. Named 'Caltragh' on the OS 6-inch maps, this monument consists of a D-shaped enclosure (N-S 63m, E-W 61m) defined by a bank, and a shallow external fosse which survives from NE through E to SE. A shallow depression is evident inside the bank from SW through W to NW. The placename 'Caltragh' may be derived from the Irish 'Cealtrach', an old burial ground (Joyce 1923, 98). However, the interior is grass-covered, level and featureless. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Updated by: Olive Alcock Date of revised upload: 20 April 2015
