  On a prominent rise in pastureland. While classified by McCaffrey (1952, 248, no. 11a) as a circular ‘Earthen fort’ (diam. c. 35.7m) defined by a bank, he suggests that it might have been ‘a stone fort with earthen cover’.   Description

  Description

  In pastureland. On the 1933 edition of the OS 6-inch map the terms ‘Souterrain’ (GA104-256001-)and ‘Cave’ (GA104-256001-) are written beside two small circles, c. 15m apart. A protruding roof lintel is all that is evident at the point marked ‘Souterrain’. Of the ‘Cave’ to the N, another protruding roof lintel is evident, c. 8.4m to the W of which is a pile of collapsed stones. Possibly one souterrain but it was not possible to determine if both elements are interconnected.   Description

  In undulating pastureland. Circular rath (diam. 41.7m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is visible all round. Traces of the fosse are evident from SSE to W to N and the outer bank survives from SW through N to NNE. From NNW to N its line is marked by upright boulders.   Description

  Within the SW quadrant of a rath (GA104-258----). This well-preserved drystone-built souterrain consists of a rectangular chamber (L 3.5m; Wth 1.4m) running E-W. Access is gained at its E end. There are two small recesses in the side-walls: (a) in the S wall 1.1m from its W end; (b) in the N wall just inside the entrance.   Description

  Situated at the E end of a short, steep-sided ridge in undulating pastureland. The ground falls particularly steeply from W to N. This small subrectangular building is defined by grassed-over stone walls. It 4.5m E-W and 2.9m N-S. The interior is 0.9m lower than the surrounding ground level. A gap at E is 2m wide. • GA104-260 Ringfort - cashel
  Description

  In undulating pastureland, overlooking a turlough to the S. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 249, no. 16b) as an oval ‘Stone fort’ (37.2m N-S; 26.2m E-W) defined by a bank of earth and stone and a silted narrow external fosse. When inspected in December 1982 the monument was poorly preserved and the enclosing bank appeared to be more rectangular in plan. No trace of the fosse was evident. On re-inspection in October 2001 double-wall facing was evident at ESE suggesting that this was a cashel. Deep tractor ruts ran E-W just inside the N limits of the site.   Description

  Some 18m to the S of a cashel (GA104-260----). Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 248, no. 16) as a ‘hut circle (?)’ but marked on the 1933 edition of the OS 6-inch map as ‘Cist Grave’. The remains comprise a circular area (diam. 4.5m int.) defined by an earthen bank with traces of an internal revetment. There is a gap at N. Possibly a hut site.   Description
