- GA132-026 Burial ground
Description
On a slight rise in grassland. This well-preserved subrectangular graveyard (42.5m E-W; 36.5m N-S) is enclosed by a modern stone wall. Most of the headstones date to the 19th and 20th centuries and the earliest one noted was dated 1801. Some uninscribed grave-markers are also visible and a small group in the W sector are similar in appearance to those found in children's burial grounds. However, locally it was believed that these marked the ends of graves. There is an early cross-slab (GA132-026001-) in the N half. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 2 April 2020
- GA132-026001 Cross-slab
Description
In the N half of a burial ground (GA132-026----). This early cross-slab (H 0.6m; base Wth 0.32m; T 0.07m) is irregular in outline. It bears a deeply incised single-line Greek cross with T-shaped terminals. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 2 April 2020
- GA132-027 Quarry
Description
In cleared pastureland. No visible surface trace survived of a hachured feature marked on the 1948 revision of the OS 6-inch map when inspected in 1983. Cartographic evidence suggests it was a natural hollow or, more likely, a quarry pit, similar to many in the area. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 15 August 2014
