- KE010-015 Ringfort - rath
Description
Internal diameter 27m N-S, 26m E-W Situated in low-lying land, this univallate rath has been much levelled and is barely perceptible today. It consists of a circular area enclosed by a low, 8m- 9m wide earthen bank and external fosse. The bank rises to a height of .5m. The fosse is very shallow, c2m wide and .6m below the height of the surrounding land. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 374. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
