  Description

  A horseshoe-shaped mound situated in rough, marshy pastureland on the E bank of a small river. Its overall dimensions are 15m N-S x 13.5m E-W and, apart from a narrow gap at S, it completely encloses a sub-circular area measuring 4.5m x 5.2m. The mound rises .6m above this central area and is composed of small burnt and fire-shattered stones. A further 3 fulachta fiadh have been recorded 250m S on the bank of the same river. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 242.
