• KE029-227 Field system
  Description

  'No trace of this recorded field system can be traced on the ground , though this may be due to the fact that the lands here have undergone considerable reclaimation and field amalgamation since the mid 1990's. Aerial photography shows the line of now destroyed field boundaries but those visible are as shown on the OS 1939 Edition maps and are unlikely to be of any considerable age. Aerial does note the presence of a previously unrecorded crop mark enclosure (KE029-227002-), partially within the RMP constraint of the field system at its south-east corner. The enclosure appears to have been univallate and approximately 40m in diameter. The enclosure recorded in the Record of Monuments & Places to the east, partially within the constraint of the field system, KE029-147----, is destroyed and no trace can be seen at ground level. A possible crop mark enclosure (KE029-227002-) is visible on aerial photography where it appears to be univallate and approximately 58m in diameter. • KE029-275 Enclosure
  Description

  'This site was situated on gently south sloping land immediately to the north of Chute Hall. It was marked on the OS 1st & 2nd Edition map as large curving semi-circular field boundary, with what appears to be the remains of a second bank occurring at south-west. The portion of the enclosure shown on the OS maps measured 180m NE-SW and 80m NW-SE suggesting an enclosure measuring 180m by approximately 160. According to the map the surrounding field boundaries neatly observe this enclosure, but on the eastern side no trace of this site was marked on the map. Little or no trace of the marked enclosure now survives on the ground, though there are undulations in the ground surface in the area of the bank and the rough nature of the ground along the line of the former bank suggests a bank width of 9-12m. All the field boundaries have been removed and amalgamated into one large field. This field has been intensively cultivated so no trace of these field boundaries can now be seen on the ground. The part of the site shown on the OS maps is clearly visible on aerial photography as is the possible line of the site to south-east. This suggests a sub-oval enclosure, similar in shape to the site at Glanbane (Ke039-065----). The initial reclaimation/amalgamation works in this area were undertaken in the mid- 1980s.' • KE029-276 Barrow - unclassified
  Description

  'This site was located in land that sloped down to the south-east and was identified on black an white aerial photography. The site showed up clearly and the photograph suggests that in 1998 the site still had a very low level enclosing bank approximately 4m wide, enclosing a sub-circular area measuring approximately 23m by 18m. The photograph suggest that, internally, there was a centrally placed mound or rise, which while it may represent a collapsed structure, would suggest the site may have been a barrow.
