  Description

  Internal diam. 25.3m N-S This poorly preserved rath is located in gently sloping pasture S of Knocknadobar mountain and affords a clear view over the Ferta river estuary to SW. The circular interior, which is level and featureless, is defined by a barely perceptible bank which rises to a maximum height of .5m at S. A narrow trackway overlies the E sector of the site.   Description

  A circular enclosure is marked at this location on the first edition of the OS map. It was recently levelled, and is remembered locally as an earthen enclosure which had a souterrain (KE080-002001-) in its interior. It measured over 20m in overall diameter, and was located on a slight rise overlooking the Ferta river at N. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.   A circular field, designated 'Gortnaruga', is marked on the first edition of the OS map at this location.
