  Description

  This blocked souterrain, not marked on the OS maps, is located in a low hillock a short distance W of the White Strand, locally called Glanbeg Strand, on the N shore of Kenmare Bay. Its only visible surface trace is an earth-embedded slab, now largely concealed in overgrowth. The passage, which is aligned E-W, has been inaccessible for many years (local information). The site is locally called 'Cnocán na hÓnach' (Ó Cíobháin 1984a, 77). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J. Sheehan (compilers), 'The Iveragh peninsula: an archaeological survey of South Kerry'. Cork University Press (1996), no. 882. • KE106-123 Souterrain
  Description

  This souterrain, not marked on the OS maps, is located at the S edge of a level area at the base of a cliff in rough mountain pasture which overlooks Kenmare Bay to S. The level area measures roughly 11m N-S 19m E-W, and is heavily overgrown. The souterrain, not now accessible, is stone-built and capped with roofing lintels (local information; Ó Cíobháin 1984a, 80-1). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
